Coaches Clinic: If possible, all coaches should plan to attend the Coaches clinic offered by the British Challenger Program in July to be held at Memorial Field. Periodically, Suncook Youth Soccer will organize and host Coach Certification Course. Voluntary participation is encouraged. SYS will pay for coaches’ continuous improvement as long as they are coaching for our organization.
Team Equipment: Coaches should plan to pick up equipment at our Equipment Pick-Up day at the end of July. If a coach can’t attend, other arrangement can be made with the Equipment Director, Ken Smith 485-9440.
Player Equipment: Shin pads are the only mandated equipment for every player. Suncook Youth Soccer usually supplies coupons and other discount opportunities provided by some of our Sponsors.
Contact Players: All coaches should contact their players by the first week in August.
Practices: Coaches can start practices as soon as the first week of August. Below are suggestions as to number of practices and duration.
U4 & U6: Coaches should meet with their players as least once prior to the start of the season. During the season practices will take place on Sat. mornings prior to the games. Remember these are very young players and you want them to be able to recognize you and feel comfortable on opening day.
U8: Coaches should plan on 1 to 2 practices a week prior to the start of the season. It is the recommendation that practice last no longer than 60 minutes.
U10: Coaches should plan on 1 to 2 practices a week prior to the start of the season. It is the recommendation that practices last 60 minutes.
U12: Coaches should plan on 2 practices a week prior to the start of the season. It is the recommendation that practice run no longer than 90 minutes.
U14: Coaches should plan on 2 practices a week prior to the start of the season. It is the recommendation that practices last no longer than 90 minutes.
Practice Space: Below is a list of space that is available. Please keep in mind there are more than 30 teams and we all need to cooperate to find space to practice.
Memorial Field, Three Rivers School, Pembroke Village School, Allenstown Elementary School, Pembroke Hill School, Volunteer Park
Code of ethics: All coaches need to read and agree to follow the Coaches Code of Ethics. Please hand these forms back into the director of the division in which you coach prior to the start of the season.
Coaches also need to hand out and collect from all parents a parent code of ethics. These forms should be kept with the coaches along with the registration forms.
Player Registration: Suncook Youth Soccer does accept late registrations at any point prior to the start of the season or even during the season. Some Divisions fill up quickly and waitlists will be available.
Absolutely no player is allowed to play in any game or practice without being assigned to a team by the registrar.
Playing Time: All players must have the opportunity to play 50% of every game.
Referees: Suncook Youth Soccer is always looking to new referees. Referees get paid for their time and anyone aged 11 and older is eligible. Please contact Ken Smith, 485-9440 with questions and time of ref. clinics. Please review the Laws of the Game-PDF. Please take a look at the addendums for each age bracket.
Board of Directors: The board members are available to you should you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Major Injury Procedure: If a player becomes injured with what may be a broken bone or other serious injury other than ice pack or bandaid injuries (the normal bumps and bruises that come with playing a contact sport), the coach should get in touch with the emergency contact for the player. After the injury is addressed on the field and appropriate measures are taken, the game may proceed. After the game, please fill out an injury report and contact your division director immediately to report the incident.
Thank You: The board recognizes that every coach is a volunteer who has offered to donate their time and energy into making Suncook Youth Soccer the best possible recreation program around. The board, players and parents very much appreciate everything you do.
